The Alstom-led consortium Expolink, also composed of Acciona and Gulermak, has signed a contract with RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) to design and build the extension of Dubai’s Red metro line, also called Route 2020, and upgrade the system of the existing line. The project involves the construction of a 15-kilometre-long line – of which 11.8 kilometers of elevated metro line and 3.2 kilometers underground metro line - branching off the existing red line at the Nakheel Harbour & Tower station.

INTRODUCTION
The Trackwork Site engineer will participate for the construction of 15km of double tracks of the new metro line connecting the existing station of Jumeirah Lake Towers of Red Line Metro to the future site of Expolink 2020.
The engineer will integrate the construction department in charge to build the track, power rail, platform and screen doors and depot equipment of Expolink project.
The trackwork site engineer will be focusing at the trackwork activities but will be surrounded by other supporting departments such as logistic, survey, quality… to assist him in his tasks.
The trackwork engineer will be pairing with a site supervisor and trade foremen to look after one work front of Trackwork activity.
Each work front will be composed of a flash butt welding team, a trackwork team, a concreting team and a finishing team.
The site engineer will be reporting to the track work superintendent and the trackwork construction manager and will have a role to play on site and in office.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The site engineer is a key player in the construction team organization as he is deeply involved in the on-site construction activities by leading and advising the site supervisor and his teams on their daily works and by reporting all the insights and difficulties of his teams encountered on site to the management. The role of site engineer becomes crucial when the bond between the site engineer, site people and the management is well established.
His main role is to assist the Construction manager and the superintendent to accurately control the aspects of the construction site such as:
-Construction drawings analysis for on-site implementation for highest quality performance
-Manpower follow-up for utmost cost efficiency
-Progress follow-up for on time delivery
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role in the office will include the following duties:
-Liaise with civil partners for the weekly coordination meeting
-Place Purchase Requisitions for the consumables, tools and equipment required for his team to work
-Order the permanent material to the logistic team to ensure enough and smooth supply on site
-Maintain permanent contact and communication with all trackwork departments (Safety, Planning,Logistic, Plant & tools, Survey, Quality) to ensure his teams are working in the most effective and safe manner
-Raise to management all Incidents/misbehavior of workers altering progress on site
-Raise to management all Incidents related to safety & environment
-Closely work with the site superintendent and construction manager to monitor the progress of its team and report on a weekly basis on update of works, 3 weeks look ahead planning, progress monitoring, site constraints, quality issues, procurement and deliveries forecast to achieve the utmost performance of mobilized workforce.
-Liaison with concrete supplier and other suppliers
-Participate to prepare working procedures for the client and site teams to describe the work sequence for trackwork activities such as (pre-assembly, deliveries, lifting activities, welding, reinforcement, trackwork installation, concrete pipe installation, concreting, finishing, repair, de-stressing…)
-Compile site diary based on site foremen and supervisor daily records.
-Raise to management all issues that are link to potential claims or additional works, and provide records
The role on Site will include the following duties:
-Lead pre-access inspection and handover inspection at time of transfer between the civil and the trackwork system.
-Assist the site supervisor and foremen to follow most updated construction drawings and details
-Supervise and coordinate the on-site activities by updating the supervisor and foremen of the completion deadlines, forthcoming challenges and accesses.
-Liaise with the onsite teams and quality teams to arrange and plan for the necessary hold point inspections
-Lead/Participate to site inspections with engineer and QC to list out outstanding works and ensure closing of items within the targeted dates.
-Participate to weekly safety walk and ensure necessary actions are addressed within the week
-Participate to the safety briefing regularly organized on site to train the teams according to latest method statement
Qualifications & Skills:
EDUCATION
Graduated engineer with recognized qualification in Civil Engineering or mechanical Engineering
BEHAVIORAL COMPETENCIES:
Leadership, initiative and decision minded
Able to adapt to Dubai environment (foreign collaborators and staff, rules in urban areas, etc...)
Team spirit approach and good communication skills
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES & EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Construction Industry
Knowledge in Civil and Infrastructures or Mechanical fields
Knowledge of quality codes & standards
Speak, read and write English in clear concise manner
IT Skills: Excel, word, power point
Driving license required
